Blanket of Doom

Welcome to Doom

Endeavors in Beading

Since pulling out my bead loom, I’ve been inspired to take a small break from the knitting and crocheting to work on some beading designs.

This is my first new design brought to life, a whimsical flower bracelet. This one was kind of fun. I charted out a basic flower and started the beading at different points in the pattern to give the impression of wild flowers in a field. The bracelet is posted on etsy if you want to take a looksy.

Meanwhile, my latest blanket is getting so close to being finished I can taste it. Stay tuned!

Endeavors in Up-cycling

I was at the store the other day where I had a serious case of  “hey I can do that,” when I saw a whole section dedicated to pop tab jewelry. And when I say a whole section, I mean a whole section. They had bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and purses. It was crazy!

I wanted to make them all, but I don’t drink that much soda, and had to stick with making a few bracelets.

In preparation for another project I had bought a package of aluminum chain mail. I ended up going with something else for that craft, but they were perfect for this one. They were a bit too small to fit through the wide part of the pop tabs, so I had to play with them to be able to connect the tabs. (The original bracelet I saw was pop tabs linked end-to-end with two rings in between them).

While it took a little playing, and the loss of a few rings that were bent so out of shape that they would never be rings again, I think it came out nicely, since the tabs had to be connected in such an intricate way.
