Yup, you read the title correctly. It’s finished at last!! (and listed on etsy)
Drum roll please……
Yup, behold the glory that is the Pokemon blanket. It’s pictured on a queen sized bed for size references.
And the beautiful back. Yup, fully reversible, which is why I crochet most of my blankets these days.
I have a few new projects in the works, hopefully I’ll have a bit more time in the upcoming weeks to post a bit more. I’m always looking for new ideas, so fill the comments section with suggestions!
School may be taking a good chunk of my time, but I’m trying to find a little time to craft each week. I’m still working on my Pokemon blanket, but I was feeling inspired to design today, so I started working on a Charmander coaster/hot pad thing.
He still needs to be sewn together, and I want to add a tail to the back. But he’s looking super cute and I’m toying around with the thought of making a set of them to sell on etsy.
To class the place up a bit, I’ve added a video for your listening pleasure as you scroll through this post.
So click play and be prepared to witness the awesome.
I started simple, choosing to first create a turtle that had no stripes in order to get a feel for the pattern.
Then came the striped version, a little more difficult to create, but not too bad.
Rainbows always make me happy. The best thing about variegated yarn is that it self patterns, yay for no color changes!
This one has inverted colors for the eyes and head. It looks a little spooky to me.
Changed the shell so that it was flatter. It made the head look a little huge, but big heads are in.
This was by far the hardest to make, and the reason I didn’t get to make 12 turtles to go along with each variation of the song. It features a white shell with a rainbow spiral. The spiral goes around the outside of the shell, but was worked using the white and rainbow yarn at the same time.
And there you have it, six variations on the turtle. Keep your eye out for another post featuring six more. ^_^
My latest block for the Pokemon blanket is possibly one of my favorites.
Bulbasaur has always been one of my favorite Pokemon, and I’m pretty happy with how his square turned out. The spots on the legs look a little too much like plus signs for me now that he’s finished, but other than that he turned out really well.
I’m going to create solid colored squares to fill in the rest of the blanket now so that the blanket isn’t too busy. Then all that’s left is to put the blocks together. Hooray!
Lately I’ve been one an amigrumi kick (sorry to everyone who is waiting on more blanket posts).
This week I was hard at work on this little guy. He was inspired by Toothless. Because he was all black I was a little saddened that no one could really see how much detail went into the pattern. So I decided to make his accents in a different color.
I’ve always been a huge fan of dragons and unicorns, so I will probably be making more soon.
