Helping Out Kids in Need

Like many of you, I spend a lot of time making beanies for cancer patients, blankets for babies, and other odds and ends to donate to the local hospital.

My sister was really sick as a baby and spent a lot of time in there, and now that she is healthy I feel the need to give back and try to help out those who weren’t as lucky.

One of the volunteer organizations at the hospital were I donate all of my knitted and crocheted goods is running for a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. In oder to receive this money, which will help purchase almost 1500 Josh dogs and books, they need to win a nation wide popularity contest. We could really use your help to do this. Please visit http://www.refresheverything.com/joshandfriends and vote to support this idea. Each vote will bring us one step closer to the prize money, and everyone can vote once per day for a given idea. You can also vote by texting 103177 to Pepsi (73774).

Project Josh and Friends is an organization that provides comfort to hospitalized children through the use of a plush dog named Josh and a story about his trip to the hospital. The story tells all about the diagnostic procedure, surgery, and recovery while the dog serves as something for the child to hold on to while alone in the hospital. Together, the work as a therapy tool to help the healing process. These items are provided to the children free of charge.

There are only ten days left to vote, and there are 50 projects ahead of us in the running. Please help spread the word.

Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I’d like to take a short break from posting about my creations to tell you about an organization that is very near and dear to my heart.
